Best Tips And Techniques For Effective Online Learning
Online Learning is a skill one should adopt. According to the study, not more than 5% of people who are enrolled in an online course are completing it. This is mainly due to a lack of motivation to complete the course. Therefore to solve this, here’s a list of 8 tips I’ve learned when learning online from a variety of sites, such as Coursera, Udacity, and Udemy.
Find a friend to study together
Online learning may be boring and slow. It’s better to get 3-4 friends together and form a study group. eLearning can be lonely sometimes, and when you get stuck you get stuck, getting friends to work on problems is critical. You can also easily locate friends and video calls instead of having in-person meetings. I used to do this to my colleagues across the Slack Channels.
Give yourself time to complete the first class
It’s always better to start with only one class and set a deadline to finish that class. You need to be more self-disciplined when studying online, even though you can go at your own pace. Note that the first class is often the toughest because you move completely to another form of learning. And I always suggest that you start with a single class and try to finish it before you move on.
Get Into A Schedule
Study at least 2-3 hours during the most productive time of the day. Make a time schedule and try to stick with it. It’s also suggested to take a week off, but it’s up to you. In this block, you ‘re going to have to watch videos, read books, and do your homework. And stick to the plan to make it more productive. I like to study in the morning hours because I feel more productive at that time. The rest of my day is committed to watching movies, fun, and games. This depends on what time you need to use. In this slot, you can do other unimportant things.
Switch Off Your Distractions
Keep your phone out that lets you check WhatsApp now and then. You don’t need to read your email or pick up a phone when studying. It’s not hard to spend an hour texting or checking Facebook, so don’t give yourself a chance to get distracted. Make sure you place your phone in a different room or box. I found that having it next to you made you want to turn it back on. Trust me, doing so will increase your focus x10.
Use The Pomodoro Technique
Pomodoro Technique is a time management method that aims to give the user maximum focus and creative freshness, helping them to accomplish tasks faster with less mental fatigue. The process is pretty easy. You dedicate 25 highly focused minutes to study and take a 5-minute break. Every 25-minute study time is called “Pomodoro,” named after the Italian word for tomato. Once four “Pomodoros” has passed, you ‘re going to study for 100 minutes with a break of just 15 minutes.
Rewind Lessons that You can’t understand
It is the greatest benefit of online learning. You can pause and rewind on the spot to revise if you didn’t understand the content. It’s not possible in schools or colleges. Also, some MOOCs, such as Udacity, provide a mentor where you can discuss your problems and get feedback on your projects. While other online education institutions do not provide mentoring, it is important that you train yourself to fully understand one section before moving on.
Always Refer To Your Books
It happens a lot of times when you don’t understand the lecture properly.
I always recommend that you keep a reference book and get a second explanation since there are no instructors or course assistants to ask.
Bet On Your Exams
Take the tests and quizzes very seriously. This is the time that you want to apply everything that you’ve learned with such passion and focus. Try the short quizzes you’ll find in other sites. A strong test score is sure to improve your self-confidence. Ensure you have a good internet connection.
